When you share your videos on different social media platforms, do you think about the ideal aspect ratio?
The aspect ratio describes the width compared to the height – and different ratios should be used depending on the social media platform.
By getting this right, your video will look better and receive more views.
What are the best aspect ratios to use?
Here’s a quick guide to what’s currently* the preferred aspect ratio for social media videos on each of the main platforms:

How to resize your video
Most phones record videos in 16:9 (landscape) or 9:16 (portrait) as standard. You can’t usually change this as it’s related to the hardware of the handset. But you can edit your video to the right dimensions once it’s recorded.
The Teleprompter for Video app has a quick setting to help with this (iOS only, coming soon to Android).
Once you’ve recorded your video, select Resize Video under the Edit menu in the Preview section. Read this guide for more information.
You can also do this using the default video app for your device or via specialist websites and apps.
